Inside the First Days of School at CAST Lead
Students arriving at CAST Lead this school year were greeted by a familiar face from another era, as Ms. Hartz welcomed students dressed in historical attire—one of many ways teachers across campus brought creativity and connection into the opening days of school.
In his weekly campus recap, Assistant Principal Christopher Turnbull highlighted moments from classrooms across CAST Lead that showed students didn't waste any time getting into the CAST spirit. Mr. Flores already had students participating in a lab, while Ms. Vega introduced classroom roles and expectations through a “Procedure Mythbusters” activity centered on being safe, respectful, and responsible in science.
Elsewhere, Ms. Arias and Ms. Rodriguez thoughtfully transformed their classrooms into welcoming spaces for students, while Mr. Martinez turned rock-paper-scissors into a team-building challenge. Students competed to select a puzzle, then worked together to complete it—learning how individual strengths can contribute to the success of a group.
From historical costumes to science labs and collaborative challenges, the first days at CAST Lead offered an early glimpse of the year ahead: learning by doing, building relationships, and creating classrooms where every student has a role to play.
