Beyond Business Cards: CAST Alumni Build Networks That Matter
CAST alumni came together virtually on August 18 for Networking Beyond Business Cards, a masterclass designed to make professional networking feel a little less intimidating—and a lot more intentional.
Led by CAST Tech Advisory Board Member Christina Jovanna Olivarez, the workshop gave alumni practical strategies for turning introductions into meaningful professional relationships. Participants explored simple ways to approach networking with greater confidence, from setting a goal for the number of meaningful conversations they want to have at an event to following up with new connections afterward.
The biggest lesson? Networking doesn't have to mean walking into a room and hoping you know what to say. Taking a few strategic, intentional steps can make building relationships more accessible—and help those relationships grow into opportunities for personal and professional development.
The workshop also demonstrated how CAST's industry partnerships can extend beyond students' time on campus. Industry and community partners share their expertise with CAST students and alumni through workshops, mentorship, career-connected experiences, and more—helping young people continue building the skills, relationships, and social capital that can support them throughout their careers.
Have expertise, experiences, or connections you could share with CAST students and alumni? Explore partnership opportunities and find a way to get involved.
